About the Piece

Created in London during the artist's visit for her group show, this 'bowl of eyes' subverts the domestic usage of a bowl by lining it with rice paper, a material that would immediately soak in any substance added to the bowl. Further warding off occurs through the painted eyes, looking straight back out at us, given further eeriness (and paradoxically warmth) by the texturising of rice paper layer.
