NEW WORKS IN THE COLLECTION BY T. ATHIVEERAPANDIAN

Dec 02, 2013 - Mar 31, 2014   -   T. Athiveerapandian
The Noble Sage is proud to announce its new exhibition charting the abstract progression of one of its most celebrated artistic finds in South India - T. Athiveerapandian. Paintings will span from 2006 (the earliest being once upon a time on the front cover of The Noble Sage's first ever catalogue, CHENNAI EXCITE)  through to four dramatic new 2013 canvases specially created for the exhibition. The exhibition is an opportunity to see just how far Athiveerapandian has travelled in his work under the patroning gaze of The Noble Sage and its clients: from flat brightly-coloured, mostly figurative, close-ups of flowers -with an emphasis on capturing the drama of the bloom using a tonally-restricted but colourful palette- through to the gritty, sometimes severe, always operatic maturity of his recent canvas abstractions. In these later works, full of colour and drama, stress clearly moves to the differing textures of paint to be found and to a new subtly brushwork.
