‘The Black Pot’, a small still life by Christian from 2007, tells of the artist’s belief in verisimilitude and being part of the great tradition of capturing the beauty of life. However it also points to his parallel past interest in Surrealism in its Magritte-like closeness to the objects and flat colour surroundings, as well as his strange handling of the napkin.
