Eroticism is a key subject of Anthony Christian’s oeuvre. In ‘Fair Feather Friend’ (2006-7), a comical pun on 'fair weather friend’, Christian insinuates a sexuality in the nude before us as well as in the artist’s admiring and perhaps wanton eyes. Whilst she removes her last piece of clothing, her head obscured, we appreciate her statuesque beauty as the artist does. The surrealistic inclusion of the feather, placed like an erect penis, implies perhaps her sensual needs as well as our desire to touch.
