‘Redhead in a red bed’ (2015) is another visual testament to Christian’s ability to make fabric (and light's play upon it) the very subject of his painting. In this work, Fanny, the artist’s wife, is in the smallest shape she can take, a human seedling form, her face to the bed, so we instead are forced to take in the varying textures of the bed’s landscape beyond, before and upon her all the way through to the sharp artificial contrast of the black and white stockings.
