This work is inspired by the plight of disenfranchised Tamils in Sri Lanka. Blood red colouring (unusual for the artist) makes this a particularly strong piece in her body of work. One immediately thinks of organic, bodily shapes such as the umbilical cord. Perhaps this is a reference to her feelings of connections as a Tamil in India with those of her race in Sri Lanka?
