(6/17/2022) In a nutshell, the loop circumnavigates Jack Mountain with half of the trail along Ross Lake and Ruby Creek, and the other half almost all above treeline on Jackita and Devil's ridges. The last couple hundred feet of the climb consisted of a straightforward trail to the summit. Drier mountains, but still spectacular dominate all the way to the eastern horizon. This section isnt wildly unsafe and the trail navigates down the switchbacks well, but there are some dried up water runoffs that cut through it at places and a bad step could lead to a very painful slide down the slope. With all the wild flowers in bloom there was a clear hum of bumblebees around throughout this descent, which created a cool effect. I let Cleo go ahead of me for much of this trail so I could take my time to take pictures and go at whatever pace I felt like.
